In an NPD Group press release, the Android Smartphone OS increased its market share to 53% during the 4th quarter of 2010. This is an increase of 9% from Q3 2010 which is a huge increase.
Here are a couple of highlights from NPD's press release:
- Apple's iOS market share was 19%, down by 4%.
- RIM was down 2% at 19%.
- Windows Mobile is 4%.
- Palm OS is 2%.
NPD also listed the top selling mobile phones in Q4 2010 which were all smartphones for the first time ever.
- Apple iPhone 4
- Motorola Droid X
- HTC EVO 4G
- Apple iPhone 3GS
- Motorola Droid 2
