Amazon announced today that they are offering services that allow you to host an entire website in the Amazon S3 environment. You have always been able to host and link to rich media such as images and video but now you can actually host a static web page and have it behave like a regular website. The setup takes place at the bucket level in the Amazon S3 environment.
To configure a bucket as a website, Amazon has added a tab to the properties pane in the AWS Management Console. Open the Website tab, check "Enabled" and add a default HTML document for that bucket (i.e. folder). You can also provide a custom error page. This is important because the old Amazon S3 would generate Amazon errors which is not great for webmasters. You also need to set an endpoint. For the US, this is something like "http://yoursite.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/". I will give this a try and let you know how it goes.
Just last month, Amazon announced Elastic Beanstalk which is designed to Automate Application Deployment in the Cloud. Go Amazon.
