Amazon announced the availability of the Amazon EC2 VM Import Connector vApp for VMWare vCenter. That's a mouthful. Amazon's new connector is a virtual appliance that makes it relatively easy to transfer your existing virtual machines (VM) from VMWare vCenter to Amazon EC2. The VM needs to be off and you choose the details of the instance such as OS, size, security group and AWS region. You then launch it from the AWS Management Console. We will be testing in the next couple of weeks. This brings Platform as a Service (PaaS) within reach for many IT shops.
