The Sony Playstation Network is expected to be down for a month before coming back online. The service has been unavailable since 4/21/2011. With this major cloud computing outage still going on, I decided to create a list of some of the largest service outages that occurred so far in 2011.

If you work in a small to medium IT shop like I do, this is really good news. It's not so easy, is it Google? The next time your "budgeting application" is down for a couple of hours, think about Sony, Amazon, Google, Twitter, Netflix and Intuit. That's right...these guys have all experienced service outages in 2011. Some have had multiple outages.

It feels good, doesn't it.

Make sure you read my article Cloud Computing Service Outages in 2011 which gives you some backup to share with your boss next time it happens to you (and it will happen). Let me know if I missed your favorite cloud computing outage of 2011.
