Definition: Infrastructure BSS is part of the 802.11 wireless network standard. It includes access points and stations in a wireless connection scenario. Every BDD must have a BSSID which is an identifier for the device which is the MAC address. BSS comes in two flavors. Independent BSS is an ad-hoc network with no access points. An Infrastructure BSS which includes both access points and stations.
